Father’s Day is right around the corner and it can be hard knowing JUST what exactly to get from year to year, especially if dad is low maintenance and doesn’t ask for much. The girls and I decided to get crafty this year to surprise their dad with a Father’s Day gift that we KNEW he would love. Ike has been working on upping his water intake, so we thought we would put a new spin on an old favorite and show a little love to his favorite water bottle using our new Cricut Joy.
Although I am new to the Cricut family, I have fallen fast in love with how intuitive it is and how quickly I can enjoy it, even as a beginner. Cricut’s machines and Smart Materials are easy to use, and can help you make personalized gifts that are thoughtful and meaningful.
The Cricut Joy, although small, brings your BIG ideas to life. You can create custom cards for any occasion, labels for organization (like your kitchen, office or playroom), iron-ons and infusable ink for t-shirts, large or small decals, personalized items like school supplies, backpacks, shoes, etc. There really is so much you can accomplish with this machine.
And with the ability to cut 50+ different types of materials the possibilities are endless with what you can create. The girls and I had never used any Cricut product before, so we wanted to start with something both easy and manageable, so we chose to update their dad’s water bottle by creating a label to personalize it a bit.
Here is a list of products we used to accomplish this:
Cricut Joy Start Tool Set
Smart Vinyl (Adhesive)
(Post must link to at least five Cricut products used using personal Share-A-Sale affiliate links - waiting for approval and then will add the products here)
We then talked through the design process and worked on bringing it to life. I love how intuitive the Cricut Joy is. Once we knew what we wanted to do, it was so easy to map it out in the grid in the app - this can be done easily on computer OR using an iphone/ipad, which makes it both a convenient and accessible option for anyone who might be using it for the first time.
Once you have your design mapped out, you grab your materials, place them in the Cricut Joy and press create. It was so exciting watching the Cricut Joy bring our design to life and it was done both precisely and quickly, in less than five minutes. From start to finish, the project took under 20 minutes and the girls were so proud of their creation.
What I loved most about using the Cricut Joy, is that my little ones were able to get involved in the DIY gift making. Their little hands were big enough to have some skin in the game and I can honestly say this gift is from them.
I also love how quickly we were able to create something that they found exciting, but that it didn’t take too long or lose their attention. Finally, I personally love how small the Cricut Joy is. Makes it easy to store and to pull out when we need it the most.
So, what do you think of our water bottle? How did the girls do? Would you make a DIY project for your loved one? Have you used Cricut before? Tell us in the comments and let us know what you think.
If you are looking for a fun way to get into DIY projects, how to’s or to create gifts, projects that are more personalized, I highly recommend checking out the Cricut Joy. You won’t be disappointed and check back here often to see some of the future projects the girls and I have planned with our Cricut Joy.
With wisdom and courage, for His glory,
Tash
